Lime green and purples pair with midcentury elements in Framingham.

Kate Daskalakis’ client was certain the sunroom in her 1960s split-level home in Framingham could do more. After installing a mini-split system and having insulation sprayed into the floor and ceiling so it could be used year-round, she hired Daskalakis to rethink the decor. “She wanted a collected aesthetic with midcentury elements,” says Daskalakis, the founder of KSD Designs and The Gallery on Federal art showroom in Newburyport. The homeowner’s vintage wrought-iron dining set was the starting point. Fabulous, but also challenging given the color—a zesty lime green. Not wanting to skew preppy, Daskalakis steered clear of pink. Instead, she opted for burgundy. “The burgundy and green color combination feels elevated and sophisticated, and not too summery,” she says.

1. The Ward + Grey rug features a grid of sprightly florals based on vintage Swedish herbarium sheets—archival papers with pressed plants used by botanists. Painting the wood floor and trim in Farrow & Ball’s Scallop, a warm neutral, brightened the space.

2. The vintage faux bamboo table in aged brass, purchased from Blue House Vintage at Vintage & Vogue Market in Kensington, New Hampshire, has a glass top that allows you to see the rug.
